What happens at Arms of an Angel Academy?
We are a tutor centre offering an alternative mainstream schooling.
- Our classes are from grade RR to grade 12. We also offer GED classes for teens and adults.
- We are a tutor Centre that provides a safe space for our students to grow in a way that mainstream schools cannot.
We aim to prepare our kids for life after school and teach them how to balance work and play.
We Continue to Grow
- Since we were established in 2018, we have grown so much!
- We started out in a lounge at the founder’s house,
- We then had to move to a bigger place, in a backyard of a friend, where we continuously had to add more classrooms.
- Next, we got our own premises in the West Rand.
- We continue to grow and in 2023 we moved to Cape Town.

Our students are our motivation. Being able to be part of these special angels life’s on a daily basis to share their dreams.

Our Mission
Many of our high school kids and GED students (seniors) have dropped out of or been expelled from school for reasons such as teenage pregnancy, fighting, bullying, financial problems etc.
- At our tutor centre, we aim to show our kids that there is always another way. It Is not about the mistakes we made, but rather what we do after the fact.
- Our seniors’ actions and behavior also teaches our junior (primary school and younger) how to navigate life and still be who they are regardless of challenges and mistakes. This also teaches our seniors responsibility.
- Our juniors learn responsibility based on consequences. We teach them to really consider what consequences they will face before making decisions.
Overall, we teach all our students that they are not alone.
Our Vision
Our Vision for this Academy is to see it grow and to help the children that come across our paths to become strong educated adults to help them find there place in the world and guide them into the line of work they want to go into with their full potential
- The aim of our Academy is to help children who cannot handle the peer pressure or the alienation of mainstream schooling. Give hope and a helping hand to those who the system has failed to see, we give them a second chance at their future.
We offer one on one tutoring for these children and allow them to be themselves as well as inspire and motivate them to follow their dreams. - We also welcome students with mental health challenges such as ADHD/ADD, Sensory disorders, stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD,
concentration, and dyslexia. - Over and above the normal curriculum tutoring, we offer training and courses at the academy to prepare these students for the working world.
- We all know in today’s world if you don’t have any tertiary education and experience when leaving matric you struggle to find
proper work in the corporate industry. - We help our students to prepare professional CV’s as well as identify courses that will enable them to get the knowledge and
experience that is required. - We continue to help students wherever the need be, through online classes.
- Our mission is to take the child out of a situation they don’t feel comfortable in, like bullying, as well as give them the freedom of being themselves.
- We don’t have overcrowded classrooms and are able to give each child the individual attention that is needed. By also helping them find the right curriculum that is right for them.
- Girls that have fallen pregnant before finishing their schooling are able to come to us and finish without being judged and made fun off. We also take on their babies so mommy doesn’t have to worry about leaving her little one with strangers all day and has access to her baby.

...that we are a Bilingual Centre; currently we offer curriculums in both English and Afrikaans.

- We acknowledge the differences among learners based on ethnicity, race, gender, exceptionalities, religion, sexual orientation, and geographical areas.
- Learners with a Diversity of experiences, viewpoints, backgrounds, and life experiences.
- We also cater for learners over 18 who wish to complete their equivalent to National certificate.
- Mini angels: Grade RR to grade 3 (also includes the babies of our young/teen moms).
- Angels in training: Grade 4 to 7 (learn how to become guardians, trained by guardians).
- Guardian Angels: Grade 8 to Matric and full time GED students (guard and guide our baby angels and training angels).
- The Arms (of the Angel): Our staff members , we use our arms to uplift and protect our Angels.

- Mondays to Fridays (Normal School Hours) 08:00 - 14:00
- Monday to Friday (Aftercare) 14:00 - 18:00
- Tuesdays and Thursdays (Extra Classes) 15:00 - 16:00
- Saturdays (Extra classes and classes for our over 17+ GED classes) 090:00 - 11:00
Impaq and Cambrilearn
- Credible home schooling and center providers, such as Impaq, and Cambrilearn follow the same CAPS-aligned curriculum that every school in the country adheres to.
- Home schooling learners have access to more subjects than those that are typically offered in schools.
- In a traditional school, learners at FET level (Grade 10-12) are typically restricted to choosing only a certain number of subjects or subject combinations, depending on the resources available. However, these same limits do not apply for home schooling learners.
- Added to this, home schooling learners have access to many more subjects that aren’t available at many schools, ranging from the likes of Hospitality Studies to Visual Arts.
- Home schooling learners through Impaq and Cambrilearn can also take their subjects in Afrikaans or English, while newer subjects such as Robotics and Coding are available as well.
GED
- We also offer GETeducare known as GED Hybrid Academy, which is an online learning course, aimed at ensuring Inclusive education for students who do not fit the frame of mainstream schooling, who wish to complete their high school equivalency in South Africa.
- The GETeducare© Readiness is dedicated to helping you to prepare to pass your studies for a better job, career and future! Home Students completing their studies in South Africa can join our daily online Virtual Educator Therapists eclasses to ensure they receive the support needed to pass!
- There are various exam locations where you can book the exam once you are ready.

- Our tutors are constantly improving their skills by doing training courses on various teaching methods, including courses on working with learning disabilities.
- We also offer remote, online classes to students who cannot attend our tutoring centre in Cape Town.
NO BULLY ZONE
Our Academy is strictly a no bullying zone. We do not allow any form of bullying or judgement on our premises if the issues do occur it is dealt with immediately here we are family.
Safety
To make sure that your child is safe during their time with us:
- Our gates are locked during the day. Anyone outside our school staff or students can only be on the premises by appointment.
- We also don’t allow our students to leave the premises unless parents have made arrangements with us. This includes going to the shops: no child is allowed to go to the shop to buy lunch unless parent has spoken to the tutor and the tutor will then be responsible for that child.
